Calling all Sunnyvale girls in grades K – 1! You are invited to attend our Girl Scouts Welcome Troop
Your girl will try out a Girl Scout meeting while we discuss troop building with the adults. Girls and their families are invited to attend either or both upcoming dates but we plan to work on Kindergarten and First grade troop-building at the December 16th meeting and 2nd-5th grade troop-building on January 14th.
To sign up for the upcoming meetings, go to our Eventbrite page here.
What is a Welcome Troop?
This temporary, starter troop is open to girls in grades K-5 and is led by Girl Scouts of Northern California staff and experienced local volunteers. Girls will participate in virtual troop meetings experiencing a variety of Girl Scout activities including Girl Scout traditions, games, songs, and community service, while adults learn how to run a Girl Scout troop.
If we aren’t able to form a troop and/or place your girl in an existing troop immediately, your girl is invited to join this Welcome Troop for approximately 6 monthly meetings. After attending one free meeting to try the Welcome Troop, you must register as a Girl Scout to attend future meetings.
Each meeting ends with a short adult meeting to answer questions about Girl Scouts, plan the subsequent meeting, and choose roles.
As an adult, you will connect with other families in your community and our staff or local volunteers will guide you through the steps of starting a new troop.
