Description: Join us for this special Girl Scouts Love State Parks virtual fieldtrip at Pigeon Point Light Station. How do lighthouses work? Why did people build them? Learn about the history of Pigeon Point, its hazardous waters, shipwrecks, and the importance of the lighthouse to the development of the San Francisco Bay Area. Discover the engineering marvel of the Fresnel lens that lights the tower and explore the crucial role light refraction plays in helping ships sail safely past the rugged coast.
