FULL- Fall Encampment (volunteer-run SU 605)

GS Family Camping. Bubble fun, outdoor skills, and outdoor fun.

Fall Encampment is a great opportunity for Troops to spend some time outdoors together, with some optional activities to do, or have free time. This year we will have some simple lanyard making crafts, some bubble wand making and bubble fun, and some fun outdoor skills-lighting matches, how to build a campfire, and much more fun.

Deadline for priority SU605 registration 9/1. Open to other Service Units 9/2/23

WHEN: Sept. 22-24

WHERE: Camp Twin Canyon (Lafayette / Walnut Creek)

COST: $30 per camper / $15 per camper financial aid rate

Financial aid ONLY available to registered GSUSA members. No refunds unless event is canceled

Included:

Choice of 1 or 2 nights camping- same price- but you can choose to come 1 or 2 nights
S’mores at the All Group campfire on Saturday night
Fun patches (please indicate how many on registration form)
Rotating Bubble and Outdoor Activities on Saturday and Saturday night flashlight hike
Bubble Tea snack on Saturday afternoon
Optional Archery activity for additional cost- registration to come!
Optional Saturday Evening Dinner: Walking Tacos fundraiser- info to come to registrants

Accommodations:

Encampment has limited and specific space available. There are many tent spaces, 4 yurts that fit 8 each with tent space around them, and 2 buildings for indoor mattress sleeping.

Sleeping spots will be assigned taking into consideration the number of participants registered. If you want to request a buddy troop/family, please make a note on the next page. Troops or families with all female participants are encouraged to utilize the yurt/indoor accommodation choice, while families are encouraged to use the outdoor/tent choice.

Male participants (dads, brothers, etc) may ONLY sleep in the same quarters as their family, NOT with unrelated participants. This is GS policy – NO EXCEPTIONS. Any male adult volunteers will be asked to bring a small tent to sleep in a different area from girls, unless they are sleeping in quarters with their family only. No Adult may sleep alone with scouts unless it’s their own family members only.

There will be space to cook your own food with your camping supplies etc, but it’s recommended to bring a small table to support your camp stove/etc.

Guests:

Unregistered parents and siblings (age 4+) are welcome. Any unregistered kids must attend with, and be fully supervised by, their own parents at all times.

Registration Process

1. Fill out this form in order to reserve your space.

4. Sign up for 1 volunteer task on form

Important Notes:

Camping is Friday and Saturday night – be prepared to indicate if you will only attend 1 or the other nights (no additional cost)
Camping packet with directions, logistics, full itinerary to come upon registration confirmation.
Activities at campout are optional and there for you to come and participate on your own throughout the day on Saturday only
Each troop/group must follow GS camping guidelines, including having a First Aider AND Camp Certified volunteer.
Any male adult volunteers will be asked to bring a small tent to sleep in a different area from girls, unless they are sleeping with their family only.
Any scouts attending without their parents must have Health Histories, permission forms, and medicine permissions.
No unregistered siblings may attend without their own parent
