Learn how advocacy can help make the changes you want happen. Develop your passion as we take a deep dive into community issues surrounding poverty. Enhance your understanding of HUMAN RIGHTS. Did you know that Humboldt has a Human Rights Commission? Do you know what it does? Do you know how it does it? Join us for Breakfast at the Dow’s Prairie Grange as we start the day. Later we will move to Cal Poly Humboldt where we will team up with Cal Poly Humboldt social work students and the Humboldt Human Rights Commission to participate in a poverty simulation. Together we will process, through the lens of human rights, the insights we have gained from the simulation. Finally, you will be asked for your input on the formation of a Teen Human Rights Commission. How should it be formed, how should it operated, how would the teen commissioners be appointed, what issues would likely engage a teen commission would issues be selected? Be part of the process!! To complete the Journey, you will need to select you passion, make a plan to advocate for a solution and make the pitch. These steps can be completed on your own, in your troop or in partnership with other like-minded participants.Register at https://redwoodgirlscouts.org/event/your-voice-your-world-journey/ |
